Amber Laura Heard was born on April 22, 1986 in Austin, Texas, to David Heard and Paige Parsons. She has a younger sister Whitney Heard, who is now 34 years old. The two grew up in a conservative Catholic family with modest finances. In her younger years, Heard competed in beauty pageants. At age 16, her best friend died in a car accident, and as a result, Heard became an atheist. At age 17, she dropped out of school to pursue a modeling career in New York, until she later switched to try acting in Los Angeles. She eventually earned her high school diploma through homeschooling.
In 2004, Heard appeared in two music videos; country artist Kenny Chesney’s “There Goes My Life” and rock band Eisley’s “I Wasn’t Prepared”. She also got small supporting roles in a number of TV shows, including: Jack & Bobby (2004), The mountain (2004), and the OC (2005).
She made her film debut with a small role in the 2004 sports drama Friday night lights† who later inspired the TV show of the same name† Heard got her first lead role in the thriller All boys love Mandy Lanewhich premiered at the 2006 Toronto International Film Festival. In 2020, Heard posted an Instagram photo announcing her mother’s death.

During Depp and Heard’s divorce proceedings in 2016, it was revealed that Heard had been arrested in Washington state in 2009 on charges of domestic violence. She reportedly grabbed Van Ree and beat her arm, but she was never charged.

Depp lost the battle against libel in November 2020, when Judge Andrew Nicol said the defendants had proved their allegations against Depp were “substantially true,” as reported by The Associated Press then.
